Evgenia Emets
Founder and Art Director of Eternal Forest
Evgenia Emets was born in Poltava, USSR, in 1979, has lived in Moscow and London and lives in Portugal since 2017. In 2008, Evgenia graduated with a MA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martin’s College of Art.
She is a multidisciplinary artist and a poet passionate about working with forests, ecology, biodiversity and community through her visual works, poetry, installation, performance and forest art.
Since making Portugal her home she started the Eternal Forest project, first as an attempt to understand the human drivers behind deforestation and disappearance of biodiverse natural forests, and then with a vision to create Eternal Forest Sanctuaries through art and community engagement as spaces for deep connection with nature.
The Eternal Forest project which I started in 2018, marks a transition towards a focus on ecology in my art. The project has been exhibited across Portugal and in the UK (Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal, King’s College among others), has been invited to participate in the Bienal de Coruche in 2019 and CI.CLO / Bienal Fotografia do Porto, Sustentar in 2020. The project has seen multiple publications including various journals and twice was invited to publish in Portuguese Emerging Art in 2019 and 2020. The film Eternal Forest, 2018, won an award at Cine Eco Seia, Portugal. Evgenia’s visual works and artist’s books are in museums, libraries and private collections in Russia, UK, Europe and Japan.

Marco de Abreau
Whole person. Father of 3 children, born in Funchal in 1971. Facilitator, entrepreneur and evolutionary mentor. Co-founder of The Stretch Consultancy, of Fundação Terra Agora, of Innovations for the Future and more than 12 adventures between companies, associations and cooperatives, including Safira, Darwin and Community of Evolutionary Entrepreneurs João Sem Medo. Graduated in computer engineering from IST in 1994, he earned a master’s degree in distributed systems (internet) and study for a doctorate in engineering and organizational design. Since 2005 he has developed skills in ‘entrepreneurship method’, ‘collaborative and participatory leadership’, ‘human development’.
Evolutionary entrepreneur
‘I have been an entrepreneur since 1996. When I saw myself as a rationalist/modernist, Safira was born. At Darwin I found myself as a postmodernist. In João Sem Medo I observed myself as integral. And it is as integral as I see born ‘The Stretch Consultancy‘ and the Terra Agora Foundation and Innovations for the Future.
In more than 15 ventures involving ‘tech entrepreneurship’ (distributed systems, internet 1.0, 2.0 e 3.0, social media, multi-platform crowdsourcing, big data), ‘local and micro-entrepreneurship’, ‘social innovation and entrepreneurship’, ‘collaborative entrepreneurship (or ‘team-entrepreneur’), with a business model like consultancy (man/hour), product (license and maintenance), internet services (pay-per-use, long tail), free/ volunteer/ service model, gift and share economy.
Ana Aires
I am a Treehugger, Environmentalist and Voluntary Carbon Market expert with 15 years of experience working across 5 countries. My work is focused on improving people’s lives and helping businesses make sustainable and regenerative choices. I’m currently interested in the role of ecosystem conservation and regeneration in climate change mitigation and community wellbeing.
I am originally from Lisbon and have lived, studied and work in other geographies for 12 years – from the UK to Cambodia. My BA and MSC were both taken in London. I grew up immersed in the art world and still at the core am an artist, having then expanded into looking at the city, and more deeply at nature, our systems of governance and how we manage the work we do. I am currently training as a regenerative practitioner to fit this approach into my current work with carbon projects.
I have worked in the voluntary carbon market since 2015, first based in Asia supporting social and environmental impactful projects contributing to the Global Goals and more recently based in Europe closer to the buyer market. As part of my involvement in this space, I was co-chair of the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA), part of the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) between 2017 and 2019.
